Steiner DBAL Infrared Pistol Light w/ IR Laser

Description:

The Steiner DBAL-PL enables operators to engage targets on the battlefield or during close quarter combat in both light and no light conditions. The DBAL-PL functions in two operational modes: The Visible switch activates the visible green laser and 500 lumen white light LED; while the IR switch pairs a Class 1 IR laser with an eye-safe IR LED illuminator for supplemental illumination.

New temperature insensitive laser technology provides better visibility and great stability over a wide-range of temperatures. Available in Black

    Excellent laser/illuminator

This PL is perfect. Given how much it does, you'd think the PL was considerably larger than a normal light, but it's not. I find it to be very streamlined and actually less bulky than a TLR2. Green laser is visible and bright day or night. Both lasers produce a nice crisp dot. Plenty of illumination with the flashlight at night, enough to work outside but not blinding inside. More flood than spot, pattern is even. You can't ask for a better NV illuminator on a pistol, it has all the brightness you'd ever need and pattern is very consistent. Both lasers are aligned perfectly, so there's no POI shift between visible and IR settings. Controls are simple, easy to reach and manipulate on a FNX45. Push button on/off. Right is white, left is IR. Battery compartment is great. Being able to replace batteries without having to remove the unit is faster and maintains zero. Only negative, there's no way to switch between laser and light, you get both or nothing.

State of the Art multi function laser illuminator

Posted by Mark O. on 16th Mar 2016

I recently purchased the Laser Devices/Steiner DBAL PL green laser/IR laser/ and visible/IR illuminator pistol sight. This is the best multi-function pistol sight I have ever used. It combines the functions of several weapon sights into one package. I have previously owned and used Surefire 300 and 300 Ultra pistol weapon lights as well as the Surefire 400 (light/red laser) light /laser combo. Surefire makes great, high quality products. But, the Laser Devices/Steiner unit is better. Not only does the Steiner unit have more functions (green and IR laser illuminators and visible and IR illuminators), but, it has a battery compartment release that is easier to open and change batteries (even while still mounted on the weapon) than the Surefire. The laser dots are co-aligned which means that you only have to sight in the visible green laser and the IR laser is automatically sighted in as well.

    Has some issues

Posted by Clint Eastwood, punk! on 20th Apr 2015

Pros: Price, construction quality is high, features, overall quality Cons: bulky, buttons may be awkward and hard to reach with your trigger finger depending on pistol model, lights/lasers always fire in unison and not independently, no remote triggering device available, does not mount to smaller pistols and all rails.

    Really nice light

I haven't gotten to actually shoot with it yet, but having the co-witnessed lasers really helped with getting it boresighted. Very simple to use.
